About Athyrium Images

Athyrium Images (a genus of fern if you're wondering) sets itself apart from others through perspective. The motto - "Through a different lens" - sums up photographer Sean James' philosophy. As a naturalist, landscaper and artist living in Southern Ontario, Sean has a view of the world which is just a bit off the beaten path. Whether for fine art prints, portraiture, or family gatherings, Sean will find settings, emotion and a unique view to capture your world.

Art prints are available at gallery showings as occasionally posted, by ordering from some of what you see on line, or, if you wish to see more, through a visit to the home gallery. Artist's Statement

My slogan, "Through a different lens," says it well I hope. It's easy to point and shoot a camera. Nowadays, the camera does most of the work. Only the eye can set one artist apart from another — make their work worthy of thought and appreciation beyond the norm. While some things have inherent beauty, it's the finding of the beautiful from a new perspective which can make work stand out from the crowd. Making people say, "What IS that anyway?" A different angle. An extreme close-up. The curves and ripples of only the reflections on water, deprived of their un-distorted parent. These are the things I try to capture to set my work above, or at least apart. As with all art, you be the judge — not me. Let me see my work now, through your eyes. That is the next level or evolution of art — watching the thought process.
